October Newsletter
October 17th, 2008My Campus Tutor was generated when I realized what a lack of help colleges offer when it comes to extra school assistance. Our business model is to provide a social networking site for students and tutors on the same campus to meet up and help in a neutral area. We have found that college’s don’t provide resource centers for the help that you are seeking (such as finance, accounting, art, liberal arts, etc) and are very generic with the help they offer such as math or writing centers. The second problem we have encountered is that professors offer only a limited amount of office hours, and they are never late at night when you are actually studying. Thirdly, if you use an outside party for help, they have no idea what to help with, since each college offers such a unique curriculum. The purpose of connecting tutors with the students in need of help is this: they know the little in’s and out’s and quirks that professors often teach in class and may not be in a book. These people have taken, or taking the same class and are excelling in that field. My Campus Tutor provides the tutor a web page/ dashboard so that they can post their biography, contact information, professor recommendation, and grades that they received in that area of study. In addition, there is a review field that past students can critique the help they received, so that future “clients” will know if they are knowledgeable… MCT is not testing the tutors, anyone can join, it is the discretion of the student which tutor they choose.
Interested in becoming a Campus Manager???
Your job is to pass out flyers, and create a buzz on campus so that everyone is familiar with My Campus Tutor and what it is that we offer. Along with generating buzz, we are asking you to sign up tutors on our site. It is free for all students to go on and search for tutors, but it will cost tutors $10 a semester per subject to be showcased on our website (payment is made through PayPal online). You will be paid a 15% commission of all revenue that is generated at your respective schools. Also, if you would like, you can hire other representatives underneath you, and they will get a 5% commission for all sales that they make. In order to keep track of who does how much, representatives will be given a code when they register on our site for free (payment for subject comes when you try to get listed). When prospective tutors go to sign up, there will be a box asking how they heard of MCT, and if they say campus rep, then a box will appear and they will insert the campus rep’s code. It is a good idea for you to get campus reps to help out, because the more they get people to sign up, the more revenue will be created at your college, and you will get more money in the long run. Plus, it will be easy to get rep’s they don’t actually have to do the tutoring, they may just know smart people, and they want a little piece of the pie.
I know it sounds overwhelming at first, but it should be pretty easy, and a good way to go around talking to people on campus. I would recommend going to resource centers, honor kids, and professors (to see who is doing well in the class) to become a tutor or campus rep.
I will be sending you the flyer that you guys can print up and distribute around campus. If printing costs you money at school, please let me know and we will figure something out- or if you can send an Undergrad mass email I would suggest doing that as well. Saves time and money and everyone will see it.
Basically this is all what you make of it, there is potential to make some serious money. Also, if any of this is confusing, or if you know of anyone that would like to be a campus manager please let me know. Thanks so much!!
